This free NHS Health Check is to available to everyone between the ages of 40 and 74 every 5 years to assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. The good news is that these conditions can often be prevented – even if you have a history of them in your family.
What happens at the check?
- The check will take about 20 minutes
- We’ll record your height, weight, age, sex and ethnicity
- We’ll take your blood pressure
- We’ll do some simple blood tests to check your cholesterol, liver & kidney function and a test for diabetes.
What happens after the check?
We arrange for Chris the practice pharmacist to ring you to discuss your results when the tests have been reported on, usually within the next 3 working days.
